What is my authentication token (API) and where can I get it?

What is an authentication token?

FreshBooks connects to a wide variety of tools and services called Add-ons. Instead of having to share your FreshBooks password with these Add-ons, your authentication token is used to securely connect these Add-ons to your account.

Where do I get my authentication token? [Administrator]

Getting your token is easy! Just follow these steps:

1. Click on ‘My Account’
2. Click on ‘FreshBooks API’
3. Here you will see your authentication token

Where do I get my authentication token? [Staff]

Staff members have a different authentication token. To get your staff token, follow these steps:

1. Click on ‘Profile’
2. Your token is at the bottom of the page
