Reviews of ReportAway!
Great Product. Wish there was a comparable product for the Android OS as I have left Blackberry
freshbooks needs to get up to speed in general. how am i not able to use on blackberry playbook? i cant even log in using browser. meanwhile playbooks are selling faster than furby in 2000 this holiday season. i suppose this is typical of a new company who has had early success. freshbooks as a biz is getting soft and will be extinct within 2yrs. someone will 1up them really soon.
Very good application, like.
Looking how to make payments? Open an invoice and click the '$' icon along the ribbon. You will see existing payments against the invoice and you can add a new payment by clicking the '+' icon.
Gave it another try - still not there (for me); here's why:
First 2 tasks I hoped to accomplish:
Enter payment against invoice: could find no way to do this, even though release said this was new option.
Find client: no way to query by company name; list was alphabetical by primary contact.
I'll check back in another 6 months.
RA is an incredible App, as I spend alot of time on the road and on site it has helped me to keep my business flowing. I am able to have all of my client data with me and it is quick and easy to generate invoices on site as I complete a job. This app is great as before i would forget to invoice for things I had done.
Release R3.1 added support for entering payments against invoices.
Very confusing, I think Freshbooks themselves should make a Blackberry app, this app is not at all easy to use, none of my inventory items show up when adding an item and my set terms and conditions aren't there either.
No offence but I seriously think that FB should make the app they know what we want from an app.
I've been using ReportAway daily for the past year. I work two jobs; 1) I'm a website developer 2) I'm an on-call IT contractor. ReportAway has been an invaluable tool for me this past year. RA has saved me many hours over my old way of tracking time in BB notes and Excel spreadsheets, and helped me get paid for full the time I actually work.
I have Freshbooks tasks configured for website design, administration, updates, coding, etc. I just hit start, grab the client from the drop-down list and go, then stop and save when I'm done. Even for "just a quick e-mail/phone call" here and there, now I'm paid for that time because I track it to the minute with RA. If I'm on the phone with a client for 20 minutes - when I'm done go to the BB call log and "Import Time to Freshbooks" select which client it was for, done. Now I get paid for that time and it took me all of 4 seconds to track that time precisely with RA.
Also - Freshbooks doesn't track the time of day when you start and stop tasks, but ReportAway on my BlackBerry let's me use the Autotext 'lt' and enters the time of day for me. I use the 'lt' Autotext for my IT field service work on-site and travel time to the site. I have default jobs/Freshbooks Projects configured where, in RA, I just "Duplicate Selection" from the "Browse Time Entries" screen and add a new Project on the BB in the field as I'm on the go. I also track my travel time from the minute I leave the house to when I arrive on-site, and every minute on-site until I leave, track the mileage, tolls, and notes for the IT service call all in the RA notes for that time entry.
I've always got multiple RA timers going that I'll pause and resume throughout the day as I work on various client projects. On the occasion I do forget to hit the timer as I'm working I also like the RA feature that allows me, from my BB Calendar to "Import Time/Import Expense" to Freshbooks. I know I had a meeting from 2:00 - 4:00, so I can just import that time and expense to RA from my BB Calendar.
For both the Web and IT jobs, when I'm ready to invoice, I do so at the Freshbooks website - I just Generate Invoice" from my existing time entries, clean up a few notes and I'm done. I'm sorry I can't comment on the invoicing from RA because I use RA only to view existing invoices, I don't ever need to create invoices in the field so I can't comment on that criticism.
Lastly, ReportAway has never failed me and support is outstanding. I can't always get a data signal, but RA saves my time and syncs up later when the signal returns. My BlackBerry fails, crashes and reboots every now and then, but ReportAway is resilient that time entries even survive reboot, and pickup right where the started - no time lost! I was an avid user of the previous Freshberry app, but Freshberry would lose my time data upon reboot :( On the few occasions I've had BB connection issues I'll e-mail RA support and quickly receive a concise response that fixes my problem. Even though the problems were with my BES or Cell Service, not RA itself. Great app, great support, give it a try.
I am disappointed with this app vs the options for iphone.
Its hard to setup, not user friendly, and takes more time to move throughout the app.
AUTHORS REPLY TO MAX. It is always great to get feedback and suggestions for improvement.
It is a fair comment that terms need to be entered each time. But line items have several ways to create them without having to type them in.
There are menu items on the invoice editor which present a pop-up with a pick list of unbilled items which may be selected by the user to be line items. There is also menu items to create line items from pre-configured tasks. There is also a menu item on the Time and Expense lists where an invoice can be created from an existing time or expense entry.
Another suggestion for anyone who cares to try it. There is a "Duplicate Selection" menu item on the Invoice List. One tip to save time typing for new invoices is to create an invoice template, Duplicate it, and then do any final updates before sending.
Not a bad app. But I wish it had the feel of the website and the ability to use your preset lines. I have a Curve 8530 and have abandoned this app in favor for Bolt Browser which lets me do everything on the website and saves my username and password for me. It can be annoying waiting for the site to reload every time u enter something into a line, but I feel better seeing the website view then the view provided in report away
This app is a good start but doesn't really cut if for people in the field wanting to create invoices on the fly. It loads clients and invoices, but line items as well as the terms have to be inputted each time you create in invoice. I don't see why line items can't be automatically loaded along with everything else. There isn't even an option to create line items and save them for later use within the app itself. If you just want to view invoices then this will work for you but not for creating anything.
I was expecting to be able to view invoices and estimates as well as entering payments. :s
Got a new Black Berry Tourch and downloaded this app from new Fresh Books App feature. Reasons I rated 3 Stars: 1.) can not apply payment to invoice; on a previous "fresh berry" app you could apply a payment - which was the main reason I used the app; scenario: go to the P.O.Box, get the checks, and apply payment; this was useful real-world mobile function. 2.) no phone for client; this was the second feature of fresh berry I used. I'm going to continue paying the couple bucks, because I want to support this app and believe these 2 functions are on the way.
Good suggestion Willie, estimates have been added along with a mileage calculator in R3.0
I is a very nice app. Just want to see a quotation/estimate feature as well.
This app is great! I have been using on my Blackberry Torch and it just works! My timekeeping while in the field has received a boost in accuracy and detail of reporting with ReportAway.
This app is a great time saver. Instead of waiting to get access to my Freshbooks account, I can update time records, client details and even generate and send invoices while I am on the road without internet access. I also love the integration with the Blackberry contacts list and calendar. Another great time saver! Highly recommended.
I have been using ReportAway for a few months now. Great app for recording time and tasks in the field. I also use an Ipad in the field, but find it is easier to enter data into freshbooks via this app. Support is great as well.
I picked up ReportAway about a month ago. Next to email and phone calls, it's what I use most on my Blackberry. There are a few minor install issues but the help page got me through them in about ten minutes. I really appreciate the fact I can get quickly log all my calls to FreshBooks from the call history on my BB-Bold
Very good app
