Attach documents to practically anything in FreshBooks
FreshBooks users that have been looking for a way to attach documents to their invoices, estimates and expenses, will find OfficeDrop to be the perfect complement. OfficeDrop lets you place links to your uploaded documents, and document folders, directly into the notes of your FreshBooks items. Your clients will be able to view their invoices, and click on links to related documents right on the invoice itself.
How it Works
To get started, first create your invoice or estimate in FreshBooks as a draft. Before you email it out, login to your OfficeDrop account, find your document and select the FreshBooks item you’d like to assign it to; be it an invoice, estimate, expense or time log entry. You can then append your link to existing notes, or replace it with a new note of your own. When the invoice or estimate is emailed to your client, a link to view the document will be visible in the notes field.

Getting Started
To get started with OfficeDrop, sign-up for an account by clicking on the Get Started button at the top of the page. You can connect to the FreshBooks integration through any OfficeDrop account. There's even a free one-month trial!
Once you have your OfficeDrop account, take the following steps to setup the integration:
- Login to your OfficeDrop account.
- Select Tools in the top right corner.
- Click on the Add-ons link on the left navigation menu.
- Enter your FreshBooks sub-domain and click on the Authorize OfficeDrop button.
- You will be redirected to an authorization page. Enter your FreshBooks Username and Password and click on the Allow Access button.
You should be re-directed to your OfficeDrop account and now be setup to send document links into FreshBooks.
How do I attach a document to my FreshBooks items?
- In your OfficeDrop account, locate the document you wish to attach.
- Click on the More drop-down on the bottom right corner of the document.
- In the drop-down that appears, you will find a FreshBooks section. Choose to attach your document to an Invoice, Estimate, Time Entry or Expense
- A pop-up will appear, allowing you to choose a specific FreshBooks item to attach the document to. Use the filter features to locate the item.
- Select the item by checking off the check box.
- Use the text box to enter any additional notes.
- Select whether you wish to share the document as an open link, or a private link (user required to login)
- Click on the Append to existing notes button, or the Replace existing notes button to finalize the process.
Your FreshBooks item should now be updated to include a link to your OfficeDrop documents in the notes field.
