Processing transactions online requires two things, gateway software and a credit card merchant account. The gateway is the secure technology that links your website and order forms to the credit card processors. The merchant account gives you authority to accept credit cards. iTransact provides both of those pieces for you - at greatly discounted rates.

Get Started
To get your iTransact account, click on the Get Started link. Once you have a iTransact account, then you can set it up in you FreshBooks account by,

Going to “Settings” in the top right corner of your account and then to the “Online Payment” page
Check off iTransact under the “Auto-bill Capable Gateways”
You’ll be prompted for two pieces of information from your iTransact account: iTransact ID and Password
Save your changes!

You should now be set to accept credit-card payments through your invoices.

We came from a large provider that didn't really care about its customers and lost touch with what those customers really needed in a merchant gateway. Rich and his team at iTransact know what merchants need and what they offer for integration with FreshBooks is top-notch. The service couldn't be easier and the rates are great, very competitive with anyone else in the payment space.

In the past dozen years or so we've dealt with pretty much every payment gateway there is, either for our clients or for ourselves. Most aren't worth considering, and you know who the the cream of the crop are.

What sets iTransact apart from the others at the top, besides their excellent pricing, is their customer service and support. You get to speak with a real person who either answers the phone or calls or emails right back. We've even been able to communicate with their developers during the integration process - something that's unheard of elsewhere.

Now, the admin interface is a bit clunky, what with multiple windows and all, but don't let it fool you - the system is solid and just works. We've used iTransact for our own business exclusively these past years and were so happy that we set it up for another of our businesses recently.

I wholeheartedly recommend iTransact, especially if you plan on using it with Freshbooks.
